Elemental Upgrading
Elemental Upgrading Tools
Element Card: Specific element cards used for elemental upgrading from +1 to +20.
Scroll of SProtect: Used to protect your item from breaking if an upgrade fails.
Scroll of Element Smelting: This scroll increases your elemental upgrade chance by 10%. Effective up to +10.
Weapons and armor can be upgraded with elemental cards to do more damage to monsters of a certain element or receive less damage from monsters. You can safely upgrade weapons and armor up to +3 with elemental cards. +1 and +2 are 100% success, +3 may fail but item will not break(card is lost).
Note: Elements can increase your damage, however it also can decrease your damage. For Elementors it can increase your damage, but for skills such as Merkaba Hanzelrusha (RM skill), Bgvur Tialbold (BP skill), Spirit Bomb (Psy skill) it will decrease your damage because those skills are "neutral".
How-To
Safe Method
Newly introduced in V15 update, this quick, easy and safe way to element your equipment, is a nice edition to upgrading options. This upgrade tool may be used for Armor and Weapons.Simply select Safe Elemental Upgrade from (Upgrade Specialist) BoBoChan's drop down menu and the upgrading window will open. In Darken see (Upgrade Specialist) Radyan. First add your item for upgrading into the appropriate slot, then select the level desired. (If you want max level do not change the number.) Then to add upgrading materials simply double click for 1 at a time entry or press "Shift" button and double click for auto fill. This option will fill all 10 slots at once.

Note the if you do not have enough Scroll of SProtect the system will stop when you run out of Scroll of SProtect. System will not attempt upgrade without scroll present. You may use Scroll of Element Smelting up to +10. When this level is acquired system will automatically remove Scroll of Element Smelting and continue in upgrade process.
Old Style
The method for elemental upgrading your gear is about the same as general upgrading.
- Make sure the armor or weapon that is being upgraded is not in use.
- Make sure you have the proper element card for the upgrade, certain cards can only be used for certain levels of upgrading.
- Double-click on the element card. Once this is done, a hammer and anvil show up above the head. This shows that you have a element card in use. (Reminder: If you wish to use an SProtect to keep your weapon safe while upgrading. You will first need to activate the SProtect before doing the upgrade.)
- Click on the piece of armor or weapon that you wish to upgrade.
- In your inventory, after you click on it, it will show the item as flashing with green lines. This shows that you are upgrading this piece of armor.
- After waiting a couple of seconds, it will tell you if the process was a success or a failure. (Failure can lead to your armor being destroyed.)
IMPORTANT: It is safe to upgrade an element to +3 without any risk of losing your equipment upon failure, however when upgrading to +4 and beyond, if the elemental upgrade fails, you will lose the item that was being upgraded. To prevent this from happening, you can use a Scroll of SProtect before attempting the upgrade. This will ensure your item is protected in the case of an upgrade failure.
Weapons will display an elemental "glow" for high levels of element upgrading, with the most profound effect being at Element+20. Suits do not change appearance at all with element upgrading. Adding an element to your equipment will also increase its effectiveness against monsters with an element that is weak to the element you have applied to your weapon or armor. However if you are fighting against a monster that is strong against the element you have applied to your equipment, it will have a negative effect for you. Shown below is a list of which element is strong against which. ">" means "is strong against".
Element upgrades can be removed by (Upgrade Specialist) BoBoChan in Flarine. It costs 100,000 penya to completely remove an element, regardless of the element's upgrade level. Removing an element upgrade can not fail and will not break your equipment.
Scroll of Element Change
As of v13 there is a new scroll - Scroll of Element Change which allows for the switching of elements without the loss of the upgrade itself. ie. using the scroll you can change the element from a weapon elemented with water +20 to it being elemented with fire +20.
Usage:
- Double click on the Scroll of Element Change. A window will open. In it there will be a place for putting your elemented item and below the five element cards can be seen. Place your elemented item in the socket. Now select the new element you would like to have. This process is 100% guaranteed. No breakage will occur and no loss of element level. Window looks something like this.
Weapons Elemental Glow
Fire +20 | Wind +20 | Earth +20 | Electric+20 | Water +20 |

Socket Cards
There are two types of socket cards in Madrigal. One set in for armor the other for weapons and shields.
Suit Socket Cards
Adds | HP | DEF | FP | Attack | MP |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2% | Volcano Card(2%) | Earthquake Card(2%) | Vacuum Card(2%) | Lightning Card(2%) | Ocean Card(2%) |
3% | Volcano Card(3%) | Earthquake Card(3%) | Vacuum Card(3%) | Lightning Card(3%) | Ocean Card(3%) |
4% | Volcano Card(4%) | Earthquake Card(4%) | Vacuum Card(4%) | Lightning Card(4%) | Ocean Card(4%) |
7% | Volcano Card(7%) | Earthquake Card(7%) | Vacuum Card(7%) | Lightning Card(7%) | Ocean Card(7%) |
10% | Volcano Card(10%) | Earthquake Card(10%) | Vacuum Card(10%) | Lightning Card(10%) | Ocean Card(10%) |
12% | Volcano Card(12%) | Earthquake Card(12%) | Vacuum Card(12%) | Lightning Card(12%) | Ocean Card(12%) |
These cards can only be used in armor suits. Cards for weapons and shields are in the next section. |
The above Socket Cards add additional bonus attributes to pierced armor suits. For example, adding a Volcano Card(7%) to a suit will increase your Max. HP by 7%. These cards can be mixed and matched for one cumulative effect, or different effects. For example, four Volcano Card(7%) in one suit would result in a bonus of Max. HP+28%, while two Volcano Card(7%) and two Lightning Card(7%) in one suit would result in adding Max. HP+14% and Attack+14%.
To use a Socket Card, you must first pierce your suit. For information on how to pierce your suit, refer to the Piercing section below. Once you have pierced your suit, you can use a Socket Card by double clicking on the card, and then clicking on a suit with an available slot. Slot availability is indicated by a purple (#/#) shown in the suit's description for the in-use slots, and slots that have been pierced. For example, if a suit shows (1/2), then a Socket Card can be added. If a suit shows (2/2) however, a card can not be added, because the two available slots are already in use by cards.
Using a Socket Card on a pierced suit has a 100% success rate. There is no chance of losing the suit, the card's bonus will always be applied.

Wind Card (C) | Speed +2%, Attack Speed +1% | ||
Wind Card (B) | Speed +4%, Attack Speed +1% | ||
Wind Card (A) | Speed +7%, Attack Speed +2% | ||
Wind Card (S) | Speed +12%, Attack Speed +4% | ||
These cards can only be used in weapons and shields. NOTE: Wind R does not exist. |
The above Socket Cards add additional bonus attributes to pierced weapons and shields. For example, adding a Fire Card (A) to a sword will increase your STR by 7 and your Critical Hit Damage by 2%. These cards can be mixed and matched for one cumulative effect, or different effects. You can add a maximum of ten (10) Socket Cards to each weapon or shield.
To use a Socket Card, you must first pierce your item. For information on how to pierce your item, refer to the Piercing section below. Once you have pierced your item, you can use a Socket Card by double clicking on the card, and then clicking on a weapon or shield with an available slot. Slot availability is indicated by a purple (#/#) shown in the item's description for the in-use slots, and slots that have been pierced. For example, if an item shows (1/2), then a Socket Card can be added. If an item shows (2/2) however, a card can not be added, because the two available slots are already in use by cards.
Using a Socket Card on a pierced weapon or shield has a 100% success rate. There is no chance of losing the item, the card's bonus will always be applied.
Piercing
The items that can be pierced include armor suits, and as of V12, also weapons and shields.
Piercing Tools
Moonstone: Used to pierce an item to add empty card sockets to it. | |
Scroll of GProtect: Used to protect your item from breaking during piercing attempts. |
Safe Piercing
Newly introduced in V14 update, this quick, easy and safe way to pierce your equipment, is a nice edition to upgrading options. This piercing tool may be used for Armor, Weapons and Shields. Simply select Safe Piercing from (Upgrade Specialist) BoBoChan's drop down menu and the piercing window will open. First add your item for piercing into the appropriate slot, then select the level desired. (If you want max level do not change the number.) Then to add upgrading materials simply double click for 1 at a time entry or press "Shift" button and double click for auto fill. This option will fill all 10 slots at once.
Note the if you do not have enough Scroll of GProtect do not auto fill, add one at a time. Scrolls must be in same amount as moonstones or item WILL BREAK.
How-To Old Style
Follow these directions to pierce your item.
- If it is equipped, unequip it.
- Locate one of the Weapon NPCs, right click and select "Pierce".
- Insert the item that you wish to pierce in the first slot. This item must be an armor suit, weapon, or shield.
- Put a Moonstone in the second slot, followed by a Scroll of GProtect in the third. (Note: Using a Scroll of Gprotect is optional, however if the upgrade fails and you do not use one, you will lose the item, even if it is the first piercing on it.)
- It will take a second to show if the piercing was a success or a failure. If it was a success, it will show a (0/#). The # is anything up to 4 for suits, or up to 10 for weapons and shields, which is the maximum number of slots you can add to each item.
- After the piercing takes place, you can insert one of the several different kind of Socket Cards. Inserting a Card into an existing slot always succeeds.
Socket Cards can be removed from a suit after they have been used on it by visiting (Upgrade Specialist) BoBoChan in Flarine. It costs 1,000,000 penya to remove one card and will remove the most recently added card each time. You will not get the card back, it will only remove the bonus of the card from the suit and make the slot available again to add a different card into. Removing Socket Cards can not fail and will not break your equipment.
